Labourers’ International Union of North America (LiUNA) to Partner with Facedrive Health on ‘TraceSCAN’ COVID-19 Contact Tracing App

TORONTO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Facedrive Inc. (“Facedrive”) (TSXV: FD), a “people-and-planet first” business, is pleased to announce that the Labourers’ International Union of North America (“LiUNA”) will be adopting “TraceSCAN”, a digital COVID-19 contact-tracing app, in efforts to better protect the health and safety of LiUNA members.

TraceSCAN is a joint initiative by Facedrive Health and the University of Waterloo. The TraceSCAN app and wearables provide contact tracing to help mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Using Bluetooth technology, TraceSCAN alerts users with a notification if they have come in contact with an individual who has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. With the use of TraceSCAN, LiUNA members and all other users of TraceSCAN can take safety precautions, such as self-isolation or monitoring closely for signs of COVID-19 symptoms, in order to better protect themselves, their loved ones and their communities. LiUNA members will become better equipped to be able to work with peace of mind while they remain dedicated to re-building the Canadian economy.

“The safety and well-being of LiUNA members remains our highest priority. Beginning with this important pilot project, we are pleased to have TraceSCAN available to the membership of LiUNA and their families, working together to ensure heightened protection amid the progression of COVID-19,” said Joseph Mancinelli, LiUNA International Vice President and Regional Manager of Central and Eastern Canada. “Our members are one of the foundational pillars of the Canadian economy and we are diligent in all efforts to continue to ensure they are protected. In partnership with TraceSCAN, we will continue to ensure that the health and safety of all members remains at the centre of all decision making, introducing this innovative safety measure as we continue building stronger communities across Canada,” added Mancinelli.

TraceSCAN recognizes privacy concerns and has built the app and wearables in line with the government’s recommendations, alongside MT>Ventures. TraceSCAN will protect privacy by requiring minimal personal information. The only personal information that will be required is phone numbers, in order for LiUNA members to be contacted by participating health institutions to provide guidance, recommendation, and support with what steps to take.

“As an innovative technology company with a people-and-planet-first business model, we believe it is Facedrive’s responsibility to contribute advanced technology solutions to our country during times of crisis,” said Facedrive Chairman and CEO, Sayan Navaratnam. “We are extremely pleased to be working with LiUNA to enhance workplace safety and help halt the spread of COVID-19 and protect workers, their families and communities from this virus.”
